The Chalet

Our Location

We’re situated on the west slope of the Rockies at treeline (2120m, 6950 ft), in a sunny southwest facing bowl. In the winter it snows, a lot! Typical accumulation is 250 cm by mid-winter. In the summer, there’s a carpet of wildflowers and a network of hiking trails with easy access to the meadows and high mountain ridges.

We acknowledge that we are within the homeland of the Ktunaxa people in the Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia.

Backcountry Comfort

The Chalet features a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious living/dining area, drying room, individual bedrooms, indoor plumbing and a sauna with showers. There is no Wi-Fi for guest use. You can book the entire chalet with a minimum group size of 10 people and we can accommodate up to 22. If your group desires a cook and a guide that can be easily facilitated making for a deluxe alpine adventure.

The Campbell Icefield Chalet Legacy

The legacy of the Campbell Icefield Chalet began in the late 1990’s when Bernie Schiesser was piloting his fixed wing through the western Rocky Mountains looking for a suitable location for a backcountry lodge. He brought his fellow guide and neighbour Eric Lomas in on the endeavour and the rest is history. The Chalet and the surrounding terrain have been a winter ski touring playground for thousands of people looking for an EXTRAORDINARY winter adventure.

Bernie and his wife Terry have eased out of the lodge operation and Glen and Louise Crawford have taken over their shares in the business.
The Campbell Icefield Chalet continues to offer budget friendly, self-guided, self-catered bookings.
